Best Book Covers Oct. 30-31
Oct 30: The Last Dome by Nirina Stone. The unusual viewpoint catches the eye. The splash of color hepls make it a bit stronger. The figure in the middle is well placed and not distracting. The title text is effective. It’s a pretty solid cover.
Oct. 31: A Wind from the Wilderness by Suzannah Rowntree Author.
Color is a strong design concept, and this cover actually pulls off a fair amount of color without being over powerful. I mean, if someone said they saw a cover with more than three colors, I’d tell them it must be an eye sore, but this one actually works. The composition is good. The text seems a little weak for me (too thin), but it’s okay.
I post a Book Cover of the day, every day on my Facebook page. Feel free to follow me there. At the beginning of each month, I do a Book Cover of the Month bracket featuring all the covers I’ve featured. You can follow my blog for additional info and (once I get my act together) interviews with the artists and authors.
